XERD 003SS "Shapeshifter" (Japanese:XERD_003SS シェイプシフター)[1] is the ARM found by Jude Maverick in Wild Arms 4 which he inadvertently takes up at Ciel Shelter. It was created by his mother, and the rest of the villagers, who worked for the Global Union developing ARMs as a means of restoring Filgaia's environment after the effects of war. In the process of saving Yulie from Brionac forces, Jude activates the ARM, which promptly destroys Ciel.
The weapon can take on many forms, such as a handgun, a two-handed beam cannon, a sword, an SMG, a grenade launcher, and a shield. Late-game, it gets combined with Kresnik's XERD_001HS "Howling Spike", a prototype beam-cannon/pile-bunker ARM. Its final form during the Arc Impulse FCA is a shoulder-mounted beam cannon.
In Wild Arms 5, Shapeshifter is also available as a cartridge for Dean Stark's ARMs Twin Fenrir.
