Leehalt Alcaste (Japanese: リヒャルト・アルカエスト) is a main antagonist of Wild Arms 3 during Chapter 2. He is one of the three Prophets that desire to reshape Filgaia in their own image. It comes to light during Chapter 3 that he actually knew Virginia's parents, having been in love with her mother, as well as having once been a former scientist and member of the Council of Seven alongside her father.

The English localization of the "Leehalt"'s name seems to be yet another example of the Wild Arms series' notorious history with mistranslation, as according to at least one other source, the character's name is actually meant to be Richard Alkahest[1].

Wild Arms 3[]

Story[]

Before the events of the game, Leehalt, alongside his future fellow Prophets Malik Bendict and Melody Vilente, Virginia Maxwell's father Werner Maxwell, Elliot Enduro, Duran Bryant and Pete Inkapilia were the last Council of Seven, a group of talented scientists who dedicated their lives to revitalizing Filgaia. He had an immense hatred of Werner, mainly because Werner constantlly overshadowed him and Leehalt loved Ekatrina, but she did not return his feelings and instead married Werner and gave birth to Virginia. The Council's efforts eventually led to the creation of the Yggdrasil tower which intended to fully restore Filgaia to its beauty, but due to the interference of Beatrice there was a massive explosion and all of Filgaia's life energy became concentrated in the surrounding area.

Most of the council died, but Leehalt, Melody and Malik were able to come back and restore themselves. Melody herself states that while she gave herself a beautiful new body, Malik chose to look exactly as he did before while Leehalt was more concerned with power - thus his pale skin and eyes. Thus, the three survivors became the Prophets, determined to use the demon library Hyades to transform Filgaia into a world of Metal Demons. They seem to require Panakeia fluid to keep their forms intact. In the 10 years prior to the start of the game, they presumably kept a low profile rebuilding Yggdrasil whilst recruiting Janus Cascade and his lackeys to gather the Demon Masks so they could summon the Dark Spear. Janus did receive this demonic weapon and thus gained the power to transform into a demon, thus able to gather Guardian Energy from the shrines, e.g. Lunatic Garden, for the purpose of reviving the ancient demon lord Siegfried.

Chapter 2[]

For Chapter 2 of the game, the heroes fight the Prophets in numerous locations as well as Janus and Asgard, a golem they revived to serve them. Virginia's team finally learns of Yggdrasil and travel through the Nidhogg Pass, at the end they fight Leehalt for the first time and win, despite his formidable counter moves. He places a curse on Virginia that prevents her from gaining any Vit. Leehalt learns the woman he once loved gave birth to his enemy. Later, the team enter Yggdrasil and defeat each of the Prophets and Janus.

Chapter 3[]

Leehalt in Chapter 3 of Wild Arms 3

After the team leave the tower and return to Boot Hill, the Prophets, very weakened, see a download from Hyades is incoming but it seems too late...then Janus emerges. Siegfriend enters the scene, bests Janus and gives the Prophets a history lesson on the demons in the olden days. Then, with the demon masks Janus collected, he transforms them into their demonic forms. The Prophets emerge in front of the Drifters as they are leaving a shrine with Shane Carradine, pillar of the Baskar Colony and introduce them to Siegfried. The Drifters are shocked at their new forms and go around to numerous locations, including Fila Del Fia, eventually learning of the Teardrop, their search leading to a confrontation with Maya Schröedinger and her gang in the Caging Tower. However, Maya is captured and forced into giving the Prophets the location of the Teardrop which is in a room in the Ruins of Memory. Once the heroes find it, a chain of events leads to the Prophets acquiring the Teardrop and rediscovering Asgard who had been sealed away by Gallows in Infinitum prior to the Yggdrasil battle. Thanks to Alfred, the team is able to enter Cradle of the Metal Gods via the Dim Root Path, defeat Malik and Melody for good, reach the Deus Ex Machina and confront Leehalt one last time, flanked by clones of the fallen Prophets. Defeated, he tells the party the truth behind Jet Enduro - a 'Filgaia Sample' adopted by Elliot with no original memories and the ability to re-write the programming of the nanomachines. Jet, in retaliation, uses his ability to destroy Leehalt once and for all, putting an end to the Prophets and therefore the Council of Seven for good...but they still have Siegfried to go through.

Wild Arms 3 Bio[]

Leehalt leads the Prophets. He is well versed in lost technology, and he is a master at peculiar etymology that can boot up devices based on ancient technologies. He is a masterful strategist who plans events behind the scenes and does not appear in the front lines of battles.

Nidhogg Pass (1º Battle)[]

  • HP: 5000
  • EXP: 4300
  • Gella: 4500
  • Halved: NONE
  • Resistant: NONE
  • Weakness: NONE
  • Active: NONE
  • Absorbed: NONE
  • Boss' Attacks:
  • Watching Your Move (does nothing, performed every turn)

Rule of Vengeance (each time you hit Leehalt, the amount of damage the hit did is also done to whoever hit him)

How To Win:

The leader/visionary/master programmer of the Prophets is one of the strangest bosses in the game. He uses his turns watching you, and never attacks you. However, every time you hit him, you take the exact same amount of damage back! Meaning, you can't hit him too hard, or you may very well perish!

The strategy for defeating Leehalt is simple; make sure you never hit him for more than your current HP! Start the battle with a Mystic + Lucky Card and Gella Card, but don't cast Valiant! Sure, you'll do a lot of damage with it when your HP runs low, but so will he!

Now, you have 2 choices. Either defeat him slowly but surely by doing a bit of damage at a time (having everyone attack each round, then using a Mystic Potion Berry when your life runs low), or you can take a chance by counting how much damage you do to him, and attempting to "finish him off" with a strong Valiant attack. The first way is slower, but much safer, and will keep you in good condition for the fight after this, so I suggest that.

Note that if you use Gatling, Leehalt will only return the damage of the first hit.

Yggdrasil (2º battle)[]

  • HP: 5600
  • EXP: NONE
  • Gella: NONE
  • Halved: NONE
  • Resistant: NONE
  • Weakness: NONE
  • Active: NONE
  • Absorbed: NONE
  • Boss' Attacks:
  • Watching Your Move (does nothing)
  • Eliminate Scanner (non-elemental damage to one target)
  • Rule of Vengeance (each time you hit Leehalt, the amount of damage the hit did is also done to whoever hit him)

How To Win:

This fight is almost identical to the one earlier, except now, Leehalt can use Eliminate Scanner to damage your team members for around 300-500 damage.

This is all about conservation. Note that Leehalt offers no EXP or Gella, so that should be a clue that he isn't the real boss. You still have to take him down, but right afterwards, another boss steps in, and you must fight him with no regeneration or any time to prepare!

Dealing damage to Leehalt will also do that amount of damage back to you, so be careful how hard you hit him. The best way to take him down is to allow Jet to get a high amount of FP up while keeping his HP at about half. Have Jet keep attacking while Gallows and perhaps Virginia heal him and everyone else defends.

Now here's the fun part. Leehalt will have sustained a pretty high amount of damage by the time Jet hits about 50 FP, so have Jet Reload his ammo and have Gallows cast Valiant on him. Next turn, have Jet use Gatling to deal a huge amount of damage to Leehalt, most likely ending the fight! And with this strategy, your team will be in good shape for the coming battle.

Leehalt, Malik, Melody (3º Battle)[]

  • Boss Name: Leehalt
  • HP: 3800
  • EXP: 2800
  • Gella: 3000
  • Halved: NONE
  • Resistant: NONE
  • Weakness: NONE
  • Active: NONE
  • Absorbed: NONE
  • Boss' Attacks:
  • Eliminate Scanner (non-elemental damage to one target),

What appears to be the last stand of the villians is actually a very simple fight. The Prophets have no special properties, abilities... heck, ANYTHING in this battle! All they can do is use Eliminate Scanner, and they all have the same HP, EXP and Gella totals.

Begin the battle with the usual; Mystic + Lucky Card, Gella Card on ONE of the Prophets, an Extend + Valiant, and perhaps a Fragile spell. From there on out, just keep shooting, taking down the Prophets one at a time. Keep your HP above 400, and target the Prophet you like least first. 8P This fight won't last very long.

Leehalt, Malik, Melody (4º Battle)[]

  • HP: 6000
  • EXP: 5300
  • Gella: 5500
  • Halved: NONE
  • Resistant: NONE
  • Weakness: NONE
  • Active: NONE
  • Absorbed: NONE
  • Leehalt's Attacks:
  • Watching your move (does nothing, performed every turn)
  • Rule of Vengeance (each time you hit Leehalt, the amount of damage the hit did is also done to whoever hit him)

How To Win:

You've beaten the Prophets with their abilities before. You've beaten the Prophets all at once without their abilities. This time, get ready to beat the Prophets with their abilities; all at once! If you have Poison or Confusion Ward Personal Skills, equip them now!

Start the battle with a Mystic Heal Berry, a Gella Card, an Extension + Valiant, and finally, a Decelerate spell on Malik. This way, you can hit him with attacks. He's your first target because his Confusion status can cause serious problems to your team. If Confusion hits, heal it RIGHT AWAY. If poison hits, let it sit for a while and deal a bit of damage to you; it will make Valiant that much more powerful. Save your FP with Jet and Clive, and keep attacking until Malik expires.

Next is Melody; lovely Melody. She has a barrier that negates 350 of the damage you do to her as before, but you'll be doing far more than that now. Deal with her with normal attacks (do not use Summons in this battle; they only incur Leehalt's wrath), and don't worry; she won't last long either!

As usual, Leehalt does nothing. Rather, he watches and waits, then slams you hard with the same amount of damage you do to him. The best way to beat him is to have Virginia accumulate a lot of FP, and then get their life to drop to critical status. This can be done by attacking Leehalt with Virginia WITHOUT Valiant on and letting the damage accumulate. Once she's in critical condition, cast Fragile on Leehalt. On the next turn, switch the turn order so that Gallows goes first, then have him cast Valiant on Virginia while Virginia uses Gatling. This will do a LOT of damage per hit, and you'll hit quite a few times too! One more thing; if you picked up Raftina like I suggested, try the Status Lock spell, because it protects a character from status ailments for a limited time.

Leehalt, Malik Clone, Melody Clone (5º Battle)[]

  • HP: 9000
  • EXP: 6100
  • Gella: 6400
  • Halved: NONE
  • Resistant: NONE
  • Weakness: NONE
  • Active: NONE
  • Absorbed: NONE
  • Leehalt's Attacks:
  • Watching your move (does nothing, performed every turn)
  • Eliminate Scanner (non-elemental damage to one target)
  • Rule of Vengeance (each time you hit Leehalt, the amount of damage the hit did is also done to whoever hit him)

How To Win:

Though Melody and Malik may only be clones in this battle, they fight the same as they once did. In fact, this battle is nearly identical to the battle in Ruins of Memory. Therefore, it can be won in nearly the same fashion. Switch your Mediums around so that Gallows can cast Extend + Status Lock on the first turn, and have Virginia Mystic a Lucky Card while you cast Decelerate on Malik. From there, focus on taking down Melody and Malik any way you can while ignoring Leehalt. Use Valiant if you start to take damage, and you should be able to destroy the two clones in no time.

All that's left is Leehalt. As long as you are careful with the amount of damage you do to him, he is a rather easy opponent. What you can do is get a character who can Gatling for a lot of hits down to low HP, and then get their FP up and cast Valiant on them. Next turn, unleash Gatling for a massive amount of damage!

Wild Arms 4[]

As an Easter egg, the NPC Amengard in Halim mentions a "Dr. Alcaste" in her reading for February 5th. She credits Dr. Alcaste as being the first person to successfully capture a Creeping Chaos alien. The doctor began to peel away the layers of fabric draping the alien; and, upon realizing he could gain infinite fabric through this method, endeavored to "revolutionize the clothing industry".
