Joseph is a minor supporting character in Wild Arms 5, the father-in-law of Greg Russelberg, father of Mary Russelberg and grandfather of Ted Russelberg. Before the story begins, his family is torn apart when his daughter and grandson are murdered by Kartikeya and he accuses Greg of killing them in an fit of rage. Years later, Dean's party initially meets him while he still lives in Gounon as he is visiting Mary and Ted's graves, but he eventually moves to Harmonde after running into Greg again and still refusing to believe he is innocent. It is later in the story where he sees Kartikeya for himself when the Veruni is terrorizing the town and Joseph is injured in the chaos, leading him to finally reconcile with Greg.
