GC Graph Jude

Jude's GC Graph. He is level 48, and put 10 GCP into "Silver Launcher" to learn it early. He also put 2 points into "Assault Buster", but it needs 2 more GCP to be unlocked. Jude has 36 GCP left.

GC Graph (Growth Customization) is a mechanic in Wild Arms 4 and Wild Arms 5 that allows the player to learn skills and fine-tune their characters. In Wild Arms 5 it's not named, and can be found under "Customize" in the "Mediums" menu.

In Wild Arms 4 it's unlocked once Raquel Applegate joins the party, but even before that characters will gain benefits from its skills. The guest character doesn't have access to the GC Graph. In Wild Arms 5 it's unlocked after the party gets their Mediums at the Abandoned Path.

Overview[]

GC Graph is a chart of all skills, both active and passive, the character can learn, arranged by level. When the character reaches the required level, the skill is automatically unlocked, and denoted in the GC Graph with a golden star and "MASTER" next to it.

The player can also use the Graph to learn certain skills early, which requires GC Points (GCP). Each character has a pool of GCP, equal to their level. The amount of GC Points required to unlock a skill is equal to the difference between the skill's required level and the character's current level. Unlocking a high-level skill with GC Points does not unlock lower-level skills; the player still has to spend additional GC Points if they want to unlock them. Skills accessed early are denoted with a silver star.

While GC Points are not in use, they passively increase the character's HP and (in WA4) MP. Conversely, using them lowers the character's current HP/MP until only their base HP/MP are left.

In Wild Arms 4[]

In Wild Arms 4, each character has their own GC Graph, strictly locking them in their roles. Many GC skills are known as "Class Level Up", which are the main source of stat increases in the game.

GC Graph zero GCP

When a character has no GCP, they have no boosts to redistribute, and thus can't adjust HP/MP balance. These are the character's basic stats.

The GC Graph can also be used to fine-tune characters' maximum HP and MP. By moving a slider with eleven positions, the player can distribute bonuses from unused GCP between HP and MP. The farthest left position gives the character no bonuses to HP, but 10 bonuses to MP, and vice versa. The central position gives both sides 5 bonuses. The amount of HP/MP without any bonuses is considered the character's base stats.

GC Graph Yulie adjustment

Had Yulie had all her GCP, she would have gained (43*3,4)=146,2 HP for one boost. But now, she has only 37 GCP, so one boost equals only (37*3,4)≈125,8 HP. Further, two boosts would give her (125,8*2)=251,6 HP. End results will be rounded down.

The size of bonuses depends on the amount of unused GCP, so spending all the character's GCP makes bonuses equal to zero. Thus, the slider will have no effect. Each character has their own formulae for GCP boosts, all based on the current amount of GCP. The end result should be rounded down.

In Wild Arms 5[]

GC Graph GCP Adjustment

Spending 31 GCP takes 31*50=1550 HP from the character

In Wild Arms 5, GC Graphs are tied to Mediums, rather than characters. Thus, the player can swap GC Graphs between characters, and even assign multiple copies of a Graph to several characters. GC Graphs no longer contain "Class Level Up" skills, but apply a level-based bonus to two of the user's stats.

In this game, each GC Point is worth flat 50 HP, regardless of level or the amount of spent GCP. MP are not affected by GC Graph and its adjustments.
