Crimson Nobles (Japanese:ノーブルレッド) are a race in the Wild Arms series. They are called "Noble Reds" in the original Japanese screenplays for the games and animated series.[1]

Overview[]

Crimson Nobles are a vampire-like race, notable for their pointy ears, pale skin, dislike of sunlight, and a taste for blood. They possess a number of supernatural abilities, which differ between appearances.

Wild Arms 2[]

In Wild Arms 2 the only known living Crimson Noble is Marivel Armitage, first seen as an associate of Irving Vold Valeria. Her blood-sucking abilities are represented with her Original Commands, "Life Drain" and "Skill Drain", the latter of which allows her to learn abilities of certain monsters. According to Marivel, Crimson Nobles are completely immortal, and normally will revive over time even when killed. However, Lord Blazer apparently was able to kill their souls as well, leaving her the only known survivor. She also alludes to her parents, which indicates that Crimson Nobles are born, not turned. Marivel herself shows a dislike of sunlight, wrapping herself in covering clothes, and taking them off only after the sun has been hidden by the encroaching Kuiper Belt. However, in the ending, she's shown getting by with only sunglasses and a parasol.

The history of Crimson Nobles, apparently, precedes humans. According to Marivel, they used to rule Filgaia, and reached a high technology level, which is backed up her electricity-shooting tool "Electel" and golem Asgard. Additionally, a book in Meria's castle library, which can be read only by Marivel, indicates that there was at least one more survivor, "Isabel Graceland", who set Promised Catacombs as a meeting place of sorts for surviving Crimson Nobles. However, the place is empty when the party reaches it.

Wild Arms TV[]

In Wild Arms TV, one of the main characters, Mirabelle Graceland, is a Crimson Noble. She displays such powers as transforming into a bat and instantly hypnotizing people. She doesn't appear to have any weakness to sunlight, although a brand of sunscreen is listed among her likes.

Episode 13, Lullaby of the Noble-Red, showcases several more Crimson Nobles. It features a Crimson Noble baby, who near-constantly remains in the bat form, and feeds on Sheyenne's blood, eventually sucking enough to leave him barely conscious. The same episode also mentions that wings of a baby Crimson Nobles apparently can be sold for a high price, which is likely why she was kidnapped from her parents.

The above-mentioned survivor from Wild Arms 2 shares a surname with Mirabelle. However, it's unknown which connection they have, if any.

Wild Arms 4[]

In Wild Arms 4 one of the members of Brionac, Scythe Riebauer, is believed to be a Crimson Noble. He's able to manipulate space, which he uses to evade attacks, and he wields magic. However, he's eventually revealed to be just a delusional human with hemophilia. By sipping Belial's blood, he gained a portion of her abilities.

The race of Belial herself is never revealed. However, she displays a range of traits, such as glowing lines on her skin when invoking her true power, that make her being a Crimson Noble extremely unlikely.
