Council of Elder Statesmen

The Council of Elder Statesmen (Japanese:元老院, Genrouin) are the main antagonists for most of the story of the game Wild Arms XF, a group of senators who seek to usurp the power of the royal family and rule over the kingdom of Elesius as tyrants. The senate consists of Rupert Dandridge, leader of a system of mercenaries-for-hire known as the Martial Guard; Edna Warren, the Abbess of the Church of Elesius; Weisheit, a weapons merchant whose clan has supposedly supported the royal family for decades; and Charlton Blunt, the head of the Council who runs the kingdom while King Hrathnir III is bedridden and heir-apparent Princess Alexia is presumed to be dead. The Council schemes to eliminate Hrathnir, who has been rolling back Elesius' former imperial policies, as their main obstacle to autocracy for the first half of the game. Once Hrathnir is dead, they use his youngest daughter Princess Katrina Liane Elesius as a puppet through which they may enact their regency.
